The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS), in partnership with the African Commission for Human and People’s Rights and the International Service for Human Rights, is proud to announce an exciting training event on “Participating in and Engaging with the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.” This intensive training session will take place from October 13th to 15th, 2023, at the prestigious Palace Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania.
The primary aim of this training is to empower human rights defenders with the knowledge and skills to effectively engage with the ACHPR and other international human rights mechanisms. It also seeks to foster the development of diplomatic and civil society networks, providing participants with the tools to prepare for and engage in lobbying and advocacy activities at the ACHPR, ultimately leading to impactful change on the national level.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to attend the NGOs Forum, scheduled from October 16th to 18th, 2023, focusing on the Participation of NGOs in the Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights. They will also be able to join the public sessions of the African Commission. This firsthand experience will be invaluable for honing practical and theoretical skills and gaining a deep understanding of one of the most crucial regional and international human rights mechanisms—the African Commission.
Furthermore, this training program will offer participants insights into the interaction and complementarity of regional and international human rights systems. By the end of the program, attendees will be better equipped to navigate these complex systems and make a lasting impact on human rights advocacy.
The event, expected to attract approximately 30 participants from 23 African countries, will be hosted at the renowned Palace Hotel in Arusha, Tanzania. Our distinguished resource persons will be drawn from representatives across various regional and international human rights mechanisms.
Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity to enhance your knowledge, skills, and network within the human rights community. Join us in Arusha this October to be part of this transformative experience.
