The meeting will be held in english and french, with simultaneous interpretation.

How much does it cost?

All participants to the Forum are expected to meet the full cost of their participation: airfare, accomodation, and so on.

The ACDHRS charges a registration fee of US$100 (one hundred United States Dollars) or its equivalent in Gambian Dalasis, to meet the cost of tea or coffee breaks, lunch, documentation, stationery and other administrative logistics for the duration of the Forum only. This amount should be paid in cash at the registration desk at the time of registration.

Please note that this amount is subsidised by the ACDHRS and the true costs for each participant are higher.

Resource persons

The resource persons are mostly eminent human rights defenders or experts in the field of democracy and human rights in Africa.

Duration of the Forum

The Forum will take place during three days from 14 to 16 April 2012, and the session of the African Commission will be held from 18 April to 2 May 2012.

Book Fair

There is a possibility to display and distribute publications during the Book Fair. We encourage the participants who want to display publications to take them in their hand luggage.

Visa Arrangements

The ACDHRS encourages participants to make the necessary visa arrangements where required before departing from their respective countries for the Gambia. The African Centre could assist in making arrangements for visas to be issued on arrival to participants who do not have Embassies, Consulates or High Commissions in their countries.

The Centre would require the passport details of such participants in time for forwarding to the relevant Government department. Please note that a fee may be charged, which will be communicated to participants.

Accommodation Arrangements

With regards to accommodation, the African Centre could make arrangements for group rates on behalf of participants, at their request, provided the relevant information is received in time. The information on hotels will be provided to potential participants.

Deadline for requests for participation

You can apply on-line to participate in the Forum by filling out the application form, the latest by 23 March, 2012. The African Centre is not obliged to handle requests for participation which arrive after this deadline.
