The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) based in Banjul, The Gambia in collaboration with Solidarity for African Women’s Rights (SOAWR) will organize virtually (Zoom) an Advocacy Workshop to Accelerate Ratification, Domestication and Implementation of The Maputo Protocol for SOAWR Members on 16th December 2021 commencing at 9am GMT.
The workshop is an activity under the project ‘All for Maputo Protocol Programme funded by the Swedish Development Cooperation through Equality Now. The proceedings of the workshop will be interpreted in English and French
The main objective of the workshop is to develop strategies on how to engage with Member States to accelerate ratification, domestication and implementation, especially by the 13 remaining States namely: Botswana, Burundi, Central Africa Republic, Chad, Egypt, Eritrea, Madagascar, Morocco, Niger, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan.
The workshop will also promote networking and alliance building amongst and between participants to accelerate joint implementation and monitoring action.
Participants will include SOAWR coalition members, Women Human Rights Defenders, NGOs Forum sub-regional focal points, women’s rights organizations in Africa amongst others.
The workshop is expected to be addressed by leading African women’s rights activists, including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, African Integration, and Guineans Abroad of the Republic of Guinea.
