We, the participants of the NGO Forum preceding the 41st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the 15th African Human Rights Book Fair, held at the Coconut Grove Hotel, Accra, from 12 – 14 May 2007,
Recommend to the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights to:
1. Formulate a legal opinion on the five points of concern by the African States on the UN Draft Declaration on Indigenous People and show how these concerns have already been covered by its work and present it to the Assembly of Heads of States and Government of the African Union during their forth coming July 2007 Summit in Accra, Ghana,
2. Recommend to the NGO Forum to sensitize stakeholders’ on indigenous peoples’ issues in Africa, highlights best practices and all necessary means and resources should be made available for this,
3. Recommend to the NGO Forum to create a separate interest group for minorities.
