The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) is set to convene its Annual Executive Committee and Governing Council Meeting on September 7-8, 2024. This two-day event will take place at the Bakadaji Hotel in Kololi, The Gambia, in accordance with Article 8 (1) of the ACDHRS Statutes established in 1995.
The distinguished participants include the Chairperson of the ACDHRS Governing Council, Hon. Andrew Chigovera (Zimbabwe), Vice Chairperson Hon. Justice Solomy Bossa (Uganda), Executive Committee Member Professor Mabassa Fall (Senegal) and ACDHRS adviser Mr. Sadikh Niass (Senegal).
The meeting aims to accomplish several key objectives, including reviewing and adopting the 2024 Plan of Activities. This will allow participants to evaluate the proposed activities for the upcoming year, ensuring alignment with the Centre’s mission to promote democracy and human rights across Africa. The objective of the meeting will also include the inauguration of New Governing Council Members and Advisors.
The ACDHRS, established in 1989 and re-launched in 1995, operates as an independent, non-profit regional NGO based in Banjul, The Gambia. It focuses on promoting the observance of human rights and democratic principles throughout Africa. The Centre is governed by a Board of eminent personalities with extensive experience in human rights and democracy issues, supported by an Executive Committee that meets regularly to address urgent matters.
This meeting is a significant event in the ACDHRS calendar, reflecting its ongoing commitment to fostering human rights and democratic governance across the continent.
