Banjul, The Gambia – A new book, Minority Discontent in Nigeria Since Independence: The Ogoni People’s Resistance in Perspective, is set to be launched in Banjul, The Gambia with a fundraising event to support the establishment of an Empowerment and Humanitarian Support Centre, Libertas House.
The book, authored by Fr. Dr. Samuel Terwase Udogbo, C.S.Sp, delves into the historical and ongoing struggles faced by Nigeria’s minority groups, focusing on the experiences of the Ogoni people. The Ogoni resistance is seen as a microcosm of the broader challenges confronting marginalized communities across Africa.
The book launch will serve as a platform for dialogue on minority rights, justice, and the path towards a more inclusive Nigeria. Proceeds from the event will directly contribute to the construction and operations of Libertas House, aimed at empowering and supporting vulnerable communities in Benue State.
Fr. Dr. Samuel Terwase Udogbo, C.S.Sp is a Catholic priest, sociologist, and educator with extensive experience in community development and social justice. His academic background and on-the-ground work equip him to provide insightful analysis and practical solutions to complex social issues.
