FORUM ON THE PARTICIPATION OF NGOS IN THE 73RD ORDINARY SESSIONS OF THE AFRICAN COMMISSION ON HUMAN AND PEOPLES’ RIGHTS AND 40TH AFRICAN HUMAN RIGHTS BOOK FAIR

The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) in collaboration with the African Commission for Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) will hold a two (2) days forum with representatives from African civil society/NGOs, international NGOs from Africa and beyond working on youth, democracy, human rights and the rule of law issues, academia, and media in Republic of the Gambia from 17th – 18th October 2022, at Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center.
The main objective of the NGOs Forum is to foster collaboration between and among NGOs within the African Commission as well as other African Human Rights mechanisms for the promotion and protection of human rights in Africa.
The theme of the NGOs Forum will focus on the African Union’s theme for 2022 ‘“Strengthening Resilience in Nutrition and Food Security on The African Continent: Strengthening Agro-Food Systems, Health and Social Protection Systems for the Acceleration of Human, Social and Economic.
The Forum on the Participation of NGOs in the 73rd Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights and 40th African Human Rights Book Fair will also share updates on the human rights situation in Africa with a view of identifying responses as well as adopting strategies towards improving the situation on the continent.
As the African commission on Human and Peoples Rights celebrates 35 years.
The forum and 73rd Ordinary Session African commission on Human and People’s Rights will invites the participation and engagement of over six United Nation special mechanism.
The expected outcomes include: the general trends and Situation of human rights, democracy and rule of law in Africa, Networking and partnership building with and amongst participants/stakeholders, Adopting Recommendations and resolutions where necessary to highlight them at the opening of the 73rd Ordinary Session and Report of the NGOs Forum.
