Call for Proposals EuropeAid/136394/DD/Act/OUA : Supporting Key Regional Actors – Human Rights Bodies of the African Union

For your information, in the framework of the European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights ,  a Call for Proposals EuropeAid/136394/DD/Act/OUA , for a total amount of 1, 5 Million Euros has been launched today 08/12/2014 in order to support key human rights bodies of the African Union.

The global objective of this Call for Proposals is to support the efforts of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR) to promote, respect and observance of human rights by African States—especially of Freedom of Expression; Freedom of Association and Assembly; and Women Rights—; to strengthen the protection of Human Rights Defenders; and to promote the Abolition of the Death Penalty in Africa.

The specific objective of this Call for Proposals is to strengthen the work of some of the ACHPR’s special mechanisms including the Special Rapporteur for human rights defenders; the Special Rapporteur on Women’s Rights; the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression and Access to Information; and the Working Group on the Abolition of the Death Penalty.

The deadline fr the submission of the concept note is 02/02/2015 at 15h00.
